Mill Creek Watershed Partnership

Ward Ling, Mill Creek Watershed Coordinator, opened the meeting with a Powerpoint presentation. Highlights of the presentation included a short history of the project, followed by an explanation of what is in the Mill Creek Watershed Protection Plan, related to management measures. An overview was provided about all the programs that have been brought to the watershed in the past year and a half (Texas Well Owner Network, Homeowner Septic System Maintenance Classes, Stakeholder Meetings, Lone Star Healthy Streams Workshop). Attend this free course which provides a basic understanding of the operational and maintenance activities of the conventional and aerobic septic systems, with a focus on aerobic systems, and explains how activities within the home impact septic systems.

The Mill Creek Watershed Partnership is pleased to invite you to attend the Texas Well Owner Network (TWON) course and Homeowner Maintenance of Septic Systems course! Well water testing will be offered as part of the TWON program. Starting August 9, you may pick up your water sampling kits from the Washington and Austin AgriLife Extension Offices and return your samples no later than August 26. The free workshop will include both indoor classroom and outdoor presentations by multiple natural resource agency experts and an outdoor field portion on a creek to discover how it functions and the role of riparian vegetation in properly functioning systems.
