The Mill Creek Watershed Partnership is pleased to invite you to attend the Texas Well Owner Network (TWON) course and Homeowner Maintenance of Septic Systems course! Well water testing will be offered as part of the TWON program. Starting August 9, you may pick up your water sampling kits from the Washington and Austin AgriLife Extension Offices and return your samples no later than August 26. The free workshop will include both indoor classroom and outdoor presentations by multiple natural resource agency experts and an outdoor field portion on a creek to discover how it functions and the role of riparian vegetation in properly functioning systems. A public meeting to discuss the feral hog problem in Austin County. This meeting will include presentations by speakers from AgriLife Extension and Texas Wildlife Services along with public discussion to identify possible solutions. Agenda Program Notes
Rainwater harvesting and turf management hybrid training event. Attendees can submit a soil test by picking up and dropping their soil sample and Urban Information sheet off to the AgriLife Extension offices for Austin or Washington counties prior to or by one week after the meeting. They can also bring their soil sample to the training. The training will include information on how to understand soil test results and nutrient recommendations so residents can interpret results once the analysis is mailed to them. Join us for the Partnership meeting and a discussion about native grassland management. Along with learning about local invasive and native plant species, participants will hear about best management practices for native grassland restoration and management, including seeding, periodic grazing, control burning, and others.
